Ensure Healthy Skin

According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, everyone should see their physician every year for a professional skin exam. If you’d like to ensure your skin is healthy, we encourage you to schedule an appointment at ZENA Medical as we specialize in complete skin health exams. You can count on us to detect any issues early on before they have the chance to grow into a bigger problem.

Complete Skin Health Exams

Our medical providers will check your mouth, ears, scalp, between your toes and virtually every inch of your body. We use skin cancer and melanoma screening protocols that are based on the USC Comprehensive Cancer Center, a leading melanoma research institute.

We’re unique in that when you schedule a “Full Body Skin Exam,” a minimum of 30 minutes is allotted in order for your doctor to perform a thorough, detailed exam, instead of just a quick glance-over.

If we detect any suspicious lesions, we can perform a skin biopsy during the same visit. Since we know your time is valuable, we’ll also address other issues like rashes, acne, rosacea, dry skin, and skin aging during the same visit.

Am I a Good Candidate for a Complete Skin Health Exam?

We recommend that men and women of all ages from all walks of life get a complete skin health exam once a year

How Long Does a Typical Treatment Take?

A complete skin health exam can take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour

Is There Any Downtime?

Since a complete skin health exam is essentially a visual check of your skin, there is no downtime. You can return to work and your daily responsibilities right away.

What is a complete skin health exam?

A complete skin health exam is a thorough, head-to-toe evaluation of your skin by a dermatologist to check for skin cancer and other concerns. It’s one of the most important things you can do for early detection — when skin cancer is most treatable.

What happens during the exam?

Your dermatologist examines your skin from scalp to toes, noting any moles or spots that look unusual or have changed. Anything suspicious can be evaluated further or biopsied, and you’ll get guidance on what to watch for at home between visits.

How often should I be checked?

Most adults benefit from an annual skin exam, and more often with a history of skin cancer, atypical moles, or significant sun exposure. At ZENA Medical in Newport Beach, skin exams are performed by board-certified dermatologist Dr. Zena Gabriel. Schedule your skin check today.
