How Does FUE Hair Restoration Work?
At ZENA Medical, we use the SmartGraft® and NeoGraft® devices for extracting hair follicles from the donor site and transplanting them to the recipient site where thinning is at its worst. Both work at a microscopic level to extract between 1 and 4 follicles at a time from the area of your scalp where thinning is not occurring. This is typically from the back of the head. Then, these micro-grafts are transplanted into the target areas where thinning and receding are at their most obvious.
We take particular care to implant the follicles in a natural pattern, so once regrowth begins, it’s not obvious the hair there has been transplanted. Because the grafts are so small, there is no noticeable scarring, and recovery is significantly shortened compared to the traditional strip extraction method.
The SmartGraft® and NeoGraft® methods are more automated, removing the inefficiencies of manual transplantation, so your hairline appears natural with consistent results that don’t appear too uniform. This automated method also improves the preservation of donor follicles, so more of the hairs survive the transplant process with the least amount of follicular trauma possible.
Am I a Good Candidate for FUE Hair Restoration?
Stopping hair loss before it becomes complete is a time-sensitive matter, so scheduling a consultation quickly can improve your candidacy for the range of treatment options available at ZENA Medical. The best candidates for FUE hair restoration are those who have a good supply of donor follicles, allowing for more hair follicles to be transplanted into thinning areas.
What is Recovery Like?
Recovery from FUE hair restoration is relatively quick, with 3-5 days of post-op swelling and some scabbing taking place. There are no sutures, so recovery is faster than strip harvesting. You’ll receive detailed aftercare instructions to properly care for your newly transplanted hair.
What Results Can I Expect?
Whether you have a few hundred or a few thousand hair follicle grafts transplanted, you’ll begin to note new growth within 3 months of the procedure. Your newly transplanted hair will continue to thicken as hair follicles enter the active growth phase. Your hairline will fill in and the strands will be thicker and healthier as months go by, with new hair growth peaking between 9-12 months. Imagine no longer feeling self-conscious or anxious that others can see your thinning spots. You can hold your head high with a newly restored hairline and thick, natural hair growth that can make you look and feel your best for years to come.
