Microneedling cost in Newport Beach, ca

How Much Does Microneedling Cost in Newport Beach?

If you’re considering microneedling, one of the first questions is usually a practical one: what does it cost? At ZENA Medical in Newport Beach, microneedling generally ranges from $365 to $600 per session, depending on who performs your treatment and what your skin needs. Adding PRP or PRF brings a session to between $850 and $1,000. Most patients see their best result after three to five sessions, spaced four to six weeks apart.

Genius RF, which pairs microneedling with radiofrequency energy, is a separate treatment that ranges from $1,200 to $2,200 depending on the area treated. Most patients have one to four treatments, about a month apart.

These are ranges rather than quotes. We confirm your exact pricing at your consultation, once we have examined your skin. Below, we walk through what sits behind each range, so you can decide which option is right for your skin.

Microneedling price ranges at a glance

  • Classic microneedling: $365 to $600 per session. For texture, pores, fine lines, acne scarring and overall skin quality. Typically three to five sessions.
  • Microneedling with PRP or PRF: $850 to $1,000 per session. For scarring, faster healing and a deeper improvement in skin quality.
  • Genius RF microneedling: $1,200 to $2,200 per treatment, depending on the area. For skin laxity and firmness as well as texture and scarring. Typically one to four treatments.

These are per-treatment ranges rather than packages. Where you fall within a range depends on your provider, the area treated and what your skin needs, and we confirm your exact pricing at your consultation. We’ll also map out how many sessions your skin is likely to need. That number, more than the per-session price, is what shapes your overall investment.

Why does the price depend on who performs your treatment?

Microneedling is a medical treatment. The depth of the needles, the pattern and the number of passes are clinical decisions, and they change what the treatment can achieve. Our licensed aestheticians, working under physician supervision, are wonderful for maintenance and general skin-quality treatments: smoother texture, smaller-looking pores, a brighter, more even complexion. This is where most patients begin, at the lower end of the range, and it is one of the best-value treatments in aesthetic dermatology.

Treatment with an RN, nurse practitioner or physician sits at the upper end of the range because it is reserved for the harder problems: deep or tethered acne scarring, surgical scars, sensitive or reactive skin, darker skin tones where post-inflammatory pigmentation needs careful management, and any plan where microneedling is layered with another treatment. Dr. Zenovia Gabriel is a board-certified dermatologist, and for scar work in particular, that judgment is what turns a series of treatments into a visible result.

If you’re not sure which is right for you, that’s exactly what a consultation is for.

What does adding PRP or PRF do?

PRP, platelet-rich plasma, is prepared from a small sample of your own blood, spun in a centrifuge on site to concentrate the platelets, and applied into the channels created by microneedling. Platelets carry the growth factors that drive healing, so PRP shortens recovery and strengthens the collagen response beyond what microneedling achieves alone. Because it comes from your own body, you cannot be allergic to it. PRF, platelet-rich fibrin, is prepared without anticoagulant and at a gentler spin, leaving a fibrin matrix that releases those growth factors more gradually. It is also what we use to make EZGel, our filler alternative prepared entirely from your own blood. Which one we recommend depends on what we’re treating, and we’ll explain the choice at your appointment.

Microneedling with either PRP or PRF ranges from $850 to $1,000 per session, depending on your provider. The difference from standard microneedling covers the blood draw, on-site processing and a longer appointment. Results develop gradually, for as long as six months, as new collagen forms. Patients treating acne scars, surgical scars, stretch marks, under-eye texture or thinning hair tend to find the addition well worth it.

Genius RF is a different treatment, not an upgrade

Genius RF delivers radiofrequency energy through insulated microneedles at precisely controlled depths. It creates tiny zones of thermal coagulation deep in the dermis, which stimulate collagen and elastin without damaging the surrounding tissue. Where classic microneedling refines the surface, Genius RF also addresses laxity: softening jawlines, crepey necks and the early loss of firmness. It is exceptional for acne scarring. That is why it is priced by area rather than by session. A single area, such as the face or the neck, sits at the lower end of the $1,200 to $2,200 range, and face and neck together sit at the upper end.

Most patients have between one and four Genius RF treatments, spaced a month apart. We usually recommend three, and severe acne scarring can take more. You will see an improvement in tone and texture within days, and the full result arrives about six months after your last treatment, because that is how long new collagen takes to form. One thing Genius RF does not treat is redness. If your main concern is texture or mild scarring rather than firmness, classic microneedling is often the better place to start, and the better value.

How much downtime does each option involve?

  • Classic microneedling. Redness similar to a sunburn for 24 to 48 hours, sometimes followed by a day or two of tightness or light flaking. Most patients go straight back to work.
  • With PRP or PRF. Much the same, and PRP helps the redness and swelling settle sooner. We ask you not to wash your face until the following morning.
  • Genius RF. We numb the skin for 60 to 90 minutes beforehand, and the treatment feels like a warm prickling. Expect two to three days of swelling, a little longer under the eyes, and mild to moderate redness for three to five days, sometimes with a bronzed look as the skin heals. Makeup can go on after 24 hours and exercise can resume after 48.

How many sessions will you need?

For most concerns, three to five sessions spaced four to six weeks apart. You will notice a benefit after the first. Fine lines, pores and general glow often show a difference after one or two; acne scarring usually takes the full series, because each treatment remodels a little more of the scar tissue. Collagen keeps building for months after your last session, so the result continues to improve after you finish.

Because the number of sessions is the biggest factor in what you spend, we would rather give you an honest estimate at your consultation than a package price that may not fit your skin.

Is microneedling worth it?

For texture, pores, fine lines and mild to moderate acne scarring, microneedling is one of the most reliable treatments we offer, with minimal downtime, a low risk profile across all skin tones when performed properly, and results that build naturally over time. Where it isn’t the right tool, such as deep laxity, significant volume loss, or sun damage better suited to a laser, we’ll tell you, and point you to the treatment that will actually serve you.

Does insurance cover microneedling?

Microneedling is considered cosmetic, so it isn’t covered by insurance. We accept all major credit cards, and multi-session plans are discussed at your consultation.

Do I need a series of Genius RF, or can I have just one treatment?

Most patients have between one and four treatments, a month apart. A single treatment suits milder concerns or maintenance. We usually recommend three, and severe acne scarring can take more.

What’s the difference between microneedling and Genius RF?

Classic microneedling refines texture, pores and scarring at the surface. Genius RF adds radiofrequency heat in the deeper layers, so it also tightens and firms. They treat different concerns and are priced differently for that reason.

Is Genius RF worth twice the price of microneedling?

If your concern is laxity, firmness or deeper acne scarring, yes. If your concern is texture or mild scarring, classic microneedling is usually the better value.

How much downtime should I plan for?

A day or two of sunburn-like redness after classic microneedling. After Genius RF, two to three days of swelling and three to five days of redness.

What is the average cost of microneedling in Orange County?

Across Orange County, microneedling typically ranges from about $300 to $700 per session depending on the provider’s credentials and whether PRP is included. ZENA Medical’s prices sit within that range, with the added benefit of dermatologist oversight.

A full-face microneedling session ranges from $365 to $600, depending on your provider. Face and neck together are quoted at your consultation.

Is microneedling cheaper than laser resurfacing?

Per session, yes. Laser resurfacing such as Fraxel or CO2 costs more per treatment but often needs fewer sessions and treats sun damage more effectively. We’ll help you weigh the two at your consultation.

How far apart should microneedling sessions be?

Four to six weeks, which gives your skin time to complete a healing and collagen-building cycle between treatments.

Does insurance cover microneedling?

No. Microneedling is considered a cosmetic treatment. We accept all major credit cards.
