What is Baby BOTOX®?

Newport Beach Botox

Despite its popularity, we all know BOTOX® could lead to an unnaturally frozen or surprised expression. With the best intentions toward preventing the signs of aging, many people aren’t thrilled with how stunted their facial expressions become with traditional BOTOX® treatments. Now, there’s Baby BOTOX®, a new trend with how BOTOX® injections are administered. With Dr. Zenovia Gabriel’s expert knowledge of the musculature of the face and precision with a needle, you can have wrinkle-free skin without the fear of overcorrection.

How Does Baby BOTOX® Work?

You may be surprised to learn that Baby BOTOX® is not a different strength of medicine; it’s a change to the dose and depth of each injection. BOTOX® is made from botulinum toxin type A. Repetitive facial expressions cause the skin to crease and relax. The more this happens, the more those creases stick around, creating dynamic wrinkles. BOTOX® stops those muscles from moving, so the skin has a chance to relax away the wrinkles and repair the damaged tissues.

The key to Baby BOTOX® injections is micro-doses. The idea is that smaller amounts of BOTOX® delivered superficially are enough to partially relax the muscle rather than entirely suspend its movement. This minimizes rather than freezes the dynamic expressions that create wrinkles. You still control your features for a more natural expression of your personality, while your wrinkles will still relax and diminish. It’s the best of both worlds.

Baby BOTOX® can also be used in more areas than traditional BOTOX® injections. A skilled practitioner of Dr. Zena’s experience can lift and tighten other areas of the face with Baby BOTOX® injections. She can diminish the marionette lines around the mouth, soften bunny lines at the top of the nose bridge, and even tighten the chin in some older patients. Baby BOTOX® can also make a difference in the appearance of the neck and décolletage. Some patients have Baby BOTOX® administered into the muscles at the jaw’s hinge to minimize tooth grinding, bringing the added bonus of giving the jawline a slender V shape that’s flattering to the whole face.

Am I a Good Candidate for Baby BOTOX®?

Most anyone can have BOTOX® injections, provided you haven’t had an allergic reaction to its ingredients in the past. Your ZENA Medical dermatologist will take a full medical history during your comprehensive consultation to determine if BOTOX® is safe for you.

Baby BOTOX® is more successful for younger patients looking to prevent the signs of aging rather than erase them. The medication is also not effective for treating lines and wrinkles caused by sun damage or environmental factors. But if your facial expressions are behind your forehead lines, crow’s feet, brow furrows, or smile lines, and you want to preserve some muscle function to keep your natural expressions intact, Baby BOTOX® may be exactly what you’re looking for.

What is Getting Baby BOTOX® Treatment Like?

There isn’t much difference between how a traditional BOTOX® treatment feels versus a Baby BOTOX® treatment. Your ZENA Medical provider will ensure you’re comfortable receiving treatment, which may include a topical anesthetic to prevent any pain during the injections. The only difference is you may require fewer injections placed in slightly different locations than you’ve had in the past.

As with traditional BOTOX®, there is no interruption to your schedule regarding recovery. There may be some injection site tenderness or slight bruising, but this does not typically impede a patient’s routine.

What Results Can I Expect with Baby BOTOX®?

BOTOX® is the number one cosmetic enhancement procedure for a reason: it works. Within 7-10 days, you’ll notice your features softening and your lines and wrinkles diminishing. The micro-doses of Baby BOTOX® will ensure you look refreshed, with a smooth complexion while you can still maintain the freedom of movement that lets your personality shine through.
